The 2016 Boccia NI’s Dedication Tournament took place at the Spectrum Centre on the 25th of February 2016. The tournament was dedicated to Margaret Coleman who was a member of last year’s winning team - Clifton Strollers from Clifton Nursing Home.

There were eleven different teams competing in this year’s competition that were from all over the Belfast and Newtownabbey areas. These teams came from different settings, including nursing homes, folds, sheltered dwellings, community groups including Jigsaw NI.

All teams played three games each; the top four teams with the highest scores at the end of the three games would continue on to the semi-final stages, and the winners of this to play off in the final. Two of Jigsaw NI’s teams ended up getting to the final, with Mary’s Mates coming out on top and Glynis’ boys coming runner up on the day.

Clare McQuiston, Manager of Jigsaw NI, said “The Jigsaw NI teams did really well today and for two teams to reach the final is a huge achievement, considering the competition that turn up to Boccia NI’s tournaments. Congratulations to Mary’s Mates on winning, seems they are back to form and playing well. Well done to Glynis’ Boys also and for all the teams that took part and made the tournament a great success.”

Every team enjoyed the day out and it was nice that everyone involved met new people from different settings and were able to come together and play a sport that they all love.
